Karen is an experienced lawyer specialising in all aspects of real estate. Before joining Acuity she was a legal director at DLA Piper.

During her career Karen has acted for some of the UK’s biggest institutional landlords and tenants, undertaking all types of investment and management work. She has a particular specialism in distressed real estate.

  • Acted on the acquisition by a privately-owned investment and asset management company of Birmingham’s famous Custard Factory at the heart of its creative quarter, a deal that adopted the innovative use of artificial intelligence to dramatically accelerate the transaction.
  • Undertook a secondment as general counsel to a property investment and technology company that owns and manages 20-acres of prime real estate across Camden Market and the West End. During her time there, the company acquired some significant properties and companies, restructured assets and intra-company loans and also ventured into lending.
  • Acted for a number of banks and insolvency practitioners on a variety of asset management, disposals and restructuring matters, of particular note what is now the Ham Yard Hotel, the former ‘second Odeon cinema’ at Leicester Square currently under redevelopment, as well as residential and commercial developments including what was reported in 2018 as ‘one of Britain’s most expensive homes’.
